This past Sunday, I taught from Acts 26 and focused the majority of my attention on verse 18:
“I am sending you to them to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.”
Our central theme for the day revolved around the five proofs of saving faith that come from that verse:
- Opened eyes to the truth of who Jesus is
- A turning from darkness to light
- Resting in the power of God
- Receiving forgiveness of sins
- Being sanctified through our faith in Christ
These five proofs describe not only the process of entering into a relationship with God, through Jesus Christ; but also how we can continue to grow in and cultivate that relationship on a daily basis.
As Christ-followers, our lives should be continually marked by these five proofs: Opened eyes to the truth, turning from darkness to light, relying upon the power of God and rejecting the power of Satan, receiving forgiveness of sins, and being sanctified by our faith in Jesus Christ.
