A Purpose for the Desert Places

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south to the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is a desert place. – (Acts 8:26 ESV)

One of the encouraging things that we can learn from Philip is that there are going to be times in your life that God calls you to go to a desert place.  The desert place may look different for various people.  For some, it might be a change in your living conditions.  It might be a change in jobs.  It might be a difficult circumstance.  It might be a completely different location from the one that you’re living.

But what’s important to grasp is that it is in those desert places that God has an intersection that He wants you to go through.  It is quite likely that there is someone that needs to hear a message that He has for them and He may be using you a means of delivering that message.

Ultimately, we know that Christ is the message and we need to remember that we are the means by which that message is shared.
